Many law enforcement and fire jurisdictions have implemented alarm ordinances to help reduce nuisance false alarms and recover costs.
Law enforcement and alarm industry organizations have been working together over the past several years creating effective "model" alarm ordinances (burglar, panic, fire, etc.) which municipalities may use as guidelines when creating their own ordinances.
Here are some of the agencies involved in this effort:
IACP - International Association of Chiefs of Police
NSA - National Sheriffs Association
FARA - False Alarm Reduction Association
NBFAA - National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association
AIREF - Alarm Industry Research & Education Foundation
SIAC - Security Industry Alarm Coalition
CANASA - Canadian Security Association
CSAA - Central Station Alarm Association
